Colonial Symphony Educational Programs
Madison and Chatham
MADISON AND CHATHAM
The Colonial Symphony's education programs began in Madison and Chatham, the towns where the orchestra's performances were held for the first 46 years of its existence. The programs are interactive, with professional musicians conducting "master classes" with specialized groups or individual students when requested by the teachers. Three or more musicians often join the students for their spring concert, making it possible for the students to perform more difficult works than they otherwise could. Both the teachers and the administrators in Madison and Chatham have enthusiastically praised the Colonial Symphony's contributions to the music curriculum. Both schools participate in the interactive, interscholastic Music, Poetry and Art program for Fifth Grades described below.
